Timothy V. Potter
Mr. Potter was born and raised in Dickson County, Tennessee. He graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in Political Science and History. While in college, Mr. Potter served as President of the Student Body and upon graduation was named a “Torchbearer” (the highest honor bestowed upon a graduating student at the University of Tennessee). Mr. Potter received his legal education at Vanderbilt Law School. While in law school, he won first place in the Vanderbilt Moot Court competition and later served as Chief Justice of the Vanderbilt Moot Court Board. Mr. Potter was admitted to practice law in 1995. He actively practices in state and federal court.
Mr. Potters practice is a general litigation practice. He has successfully tried numerous cases in many different Tennessee counties and in federal court. Mr. Potter’s practice includes complex civil litigation, criminal defense, employment law, administrative law, personal injury, workers compensation, municipal/county representation, and domestic litigation. In addition to representing Dickson County, Tennessee in various litigation matters, Mr. Potter also currently serves as the City Attorney for the Town of Burns, Tennessee and the Town of Vanleer, Tennessee.
Mr. Potter is a former president of the Dickson County Bar Association and the Dickson Rotary Club. He also has served as chairman of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He enjoys being a little league coach, and has given his time to many different civic and community organizations including the Dickson County Help Center and Developmental Services of Dickson County. In 2006, Mr. Potter was elected to the Dickson County Board of Education where currently he serves as Chairman.
Mr. Potter is married to Amber Reynolds Potter of Dickson. Amber is a fifth grade teacher. They reside in Dickson and have three children, Luke, Travis, and Lucy Marie. Mr. Potter and his wife are active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Dickson.
