Mr. Ragan is a resident of Dickson County, Tennessee with a family history in the County dating back to 1806. He is a 1983 graduate of Dickson County Senior High School, a 1988 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (“MTSU”) with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance, and a 1993 graduate of the Nashville School of Law.
He served five years as a bank examiner for the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions (“TDFI”) and two years as general legal counsel to the Commissioner for the TDFI. Since 1998, he has maintained a law practice in Dickson, Tennessee, and beginning in 1998, he served an eight (8) year term as the elected City Judge for Dickson.
Mr. Ragan’s practice is concentrated in the areas of civil litigation, commercial and business law, contracts, personal injury, wills and estates, and real estate law. In addition, Mr. Ragan serves, along with the other attorneys in the firm, as the County Attorney for Dickson County, Tennessee.
In 2007, Mr. Ragan retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard having served more than twenty years. His service included a one-year tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2005/2006 as a combat infantry adviser embedded with an Afghan infantry unit. During his deployment, he conducted joint operations with numerous international forces, and with both the 3rd and 20th Special Forces Groups.
He is a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Dickson, and a member of the board for The Community Foundation for Dickson County, Tennessee. He is married to Carol Hall Ragan, and they are the parents of twins, Patrick and Emma.
