Lucy Potter Gramling was born and raised in Dickson, Tennessee. After graduating from Dickson County High School in 2020, she attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Programs and minors in Political Science and Africana Studies. While there, Lucy was an active member of Delta Gamma sorority.

During her undergraduate studies, Lucy earned acceptance into the University of Tennessee's competitive 3+3 Program, allowing her to begin her legal education at the University of Tennessee College of Law a full year early.

While attending law school, Lucy was actively involved in several student organizations, including Law Women and the Student Bar Association. She served as Public Relations Chair and later President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, where she organized fundraising events, coordinated guest speakers, and collaborated with the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine to draft an updated version of the Tennessee Animal Law Handbook. Lucy also gained practical legal experience through internships with the Office of the District Public Defender for the 23rd Judicial District, Lewis Thomason, P.C., and Reynolds, Potter, Ragan & Vandivort, PLC.

Lucy further developed her legal skills through the College of Law's clinical programs, where she represented clients under attorney supervision. She spent two semesters in the Wrongful Convictions Clinic, assisting in post-conviction litigation, and participated in the Advocacy Clinic, representing clients in a variety of legal matters. Throughout her clinical work, Lucy devoted time to her clients beyond the requirements of her coursework. In recognition of her commitment to service, Lucy received a Gold Service Medallion from the university's Jones Center for Leadership and Service for completing more than 225 hours of volunteer service. She was also acknowledged at graduation by the College of Law's Pro Bono organization for her pro bono service.

After graduating from law school in May 2026, Lucy passed the July 2026 Tennessee Bar Examination and returned to her hometown to practice as an associate attorney with Reynolds, Potter, Ragan & Vandivort, PLC. Following in the footsteps of her father and maternal grandfather, Lucy is proud to continue her family's tradition in the legal profession while serving the community where she was raised.

Lucy married her husband, Winn Gramling, in September 2026. Winn is an architectural designer in Nashville. The couple resides in Dickson and attends First Presbyterian Church. They enjoy spending time with their Maltipoo, Peach.
